Quality control

The fundamental point for us is quality control

In order to achieve desired results, we test materials before starting our production, during processing and before sending it to our customers. To perform more accurate tests of down, we send our samples to the certified laboratories in Europe and other associations around the world such as IDFB and EDFA.

The major criteria for high quality down are: size of down, fill power of down, maturity, percentage of cluster and turbidity.

Sampling

Within a long processing sampling occupies one of the leading positions. Taking a small portion out of the material and sending it to the laboratory is the most reliable way to achieve accurate test results. So we prioritize sampling as the indispensable element of our production.

Quality composition

The purpose of composition analysis is to estimate the content distribution of the product. We do that manually sorting of the bulk material into its individual components such as down, feather, down fiber, etc.

Color separation

The present test enables us to figure out the percentage proportion of the gray down and feathers containing in the white material.

Some materials happen to be of the high quality with only 0,01% black spots.

Feather and down species

The analysis of the species is a reliable way to determine which waterfowl the down and feather come from. The down and feather we deal with come from home-grown geese and ducks.

To conduct this test the down and feather are thoroughly examined under the microscope and the desired result is easily attainable: the morphological structure of the material prompts the species.

Turbidity

The turbidity is an index of the cleanliness and it gives information about the amount of organic, inorganic and biological particles on the surface of the down and feather products.

Usually, after washing our materials meet the requirements of the national and international standards with results of 1000mm and above.

We always have our products tested by independent testing laboratories to guarantee that the requirements for hygiene and cleanliness are within the appropriate boundaries.

Conditioning

As a rule most tests with feather and down must be performed in a standardized environment with conditioned material. The significant factor is to control temperature and air humidity to get an accurate, consistent and repeatable result.

For this purpose we have a climate room, where we can always make sure that the analyzed material is being tested according to the standardized requirements.

Fill power

The level of fill power is used to measure the fluffiness of down, which is a substantial marker of the products.

The insulation properties of the down directly depend on the level of the fill power and consequently the less material is necessary to make a definite product.

We are proud to announce that the majority of our materials are marked by the highest level of fill power.

Oxygen number

The oxygen number is an index determining the cleanliness of the product and demonstrating the amount of organic redundant matter on the surface of the plumage.

The lower the oxygen number is, the cleaner the product is. In majority of countries the require oxygen number is not higher than 10.

Hydrophobic shake test

The hydrophobic shake test demonstrates the Durable Water Repellent (DWR), the ability to repel water and keep the down dry while being immersed into water
